Services
From dustless refinishing to expert craftsmanship and installation, we create the wood floors you love to live on.
Refinish (Sand + Finish)
The refinishing process can reveal the beauty of existing wood floors that have been hidden under carpet, or restore exposed floors that are beginning to show wear and tear after a decade or so of use. Refinishing consists of a sand and finish process. From start to finish, most refinishing projects take approximately 4-6 days. Our professional sanding process removes old finish and levels the floor. Multiple passes with professional sanding equipment and successively finer grits flatten and smooth the wood, creating the best foundation for a beautiful floor. Finally, the stain and finish coats are applied. The finish coat is usually water based, but oil base finishes can also be used.
Installation, Sand and Finish
When a new wood floor is installed in your home, the floor is first prepped to ensure that it is flat and free of debris. Appliances and furniture should be moved prior to the installation. All wood flooring is delivered to the job site a few days in advance and allowed to acclimate with your home’s moisture levels, which ensures a long-lasting, high-quality installation. There are unlimited possibilities for customizing the final appearance of your floor. You can choose the type of finish, the stain, and if any, the sheen of the final product. We help you select the right finish options to fit your style, home, and lifestyle. Your new floor will be sanded and finished in your home, so you should expect noise, dust, and some disruption during the installation. The finish will need time to dry on-site, during which time you will not be able to walk on your floor. Andersen Wood Floor staff are respectable and clean cut. You can trust our team to leave the job site exceptionally clean.
Prefinished installation
Prefinished or factory finished floors come with the finish pre-applied. This takes place at the factory before the flooring reaches your home. This is one of the benefits of installing a prefinished floor: there is minimal dust and noise during the installation process. You will also be able to walk on your floors immediately after they are installed. There are many color and style options available in factory finished floors, however, you may not be able to achieve the same level of customization as you can with new wood floors that are installed and finished on site.
Dustless Refinishing
It’s possible to refinish your hardwood floors without the dust! Andersen Wood Floors is happy to offer you a cleaner, healthier, faster process using our dust containment systems. While our traditional sanding process is highly-detailed to leave minimal dust residue, our Dustless Refinishing process achieves the highest quality finish possible by removing the dust particles that can settle and contaminate the floor as the finish dries. Homeowners are often wary about a wood flooring project because the dust clean up afterwards can feel like a headache that will never end. Dust particles can linger for months in your home, resettling on furniture, staying in the air and building up in air ducts. During the Dustless Refinishing process, airborne dust is captured and contained, and the dust is evacuated to a sealed drum in a portable dust collection system. Our wood floor experts utilize powerful vacuums attached to all equipment, which extracts the dust from your home or business as it's being generated - leaving you with only the happiness of your new wood floors and not the headache of dust.

Maintenance, Recoating and Repair
To maintain its beautiful finish, your wood floor may require buffing, light sanding, restaining, or repair from time to time. The most common repair issues include: water damage, scratches, and stains. Water damage can be caused by leaky refrigerators or dishwashers, plumbing leaks, improperly sealed windows, or other related issues. We often see scratches or gouges in heavy traffic areas, or caused by walking in high heels in disrepair or moving furniture without pads on the feet. In stained areas, where pet stains or spills have been under carpet, a refinish in a darker color can minimize the stained spots. All flooring options will show some wear over time, but wood flooring is the only flooring option where wear can be repaired to restore the floor to its original luster.
